Heavy Snowfalls, Blizzards Hit Romania
Adjust font size:

Many counties in Romania were hit by heavy snowfalls and blizzards, which have made life difficult for both residents and tourists.

Hundreds of communities were affected by power shortage caused by heavy snowfalls, which lasted 24 hours, media reported.

Snowfalls and blizzards have forced sea ports to close and trains to stop between stations and left tourists stranded in mountain resorts.

The Environment and Water Management Ministry on Tuesday issued a yellow-code warning, urging local authorities concerned to follow closely with the developments of the weather in the following days when heavy rains, sleet and snowfalls are expected.
