Tourist Killed When Parachute Fails to Open in Australia
Adjust font size:

A tourist from Iceland died after his parachute failed to open during a jump from a helicopter in Australia's southeastern state of New South Wales on Sunday.

The 27-year-old jumped from a helicopter at a music festival held at Bonalbo and suffered fatal head injures.

The tourist's parachute failed to open properly, Australian Associated Press on Monday quoted police as saying.

The helicopter jump was believed to be among adventure activities on offer at the festival, police said.

Investigations into the incident are underway, the report said.
