Polish airports will obtain 346 million euros (US$450 million) from the European Union (EU) Coherence Fund in 2007-2013, the Polish Transport Ministry said on Thursday.

Among the airports receiving the funds, Cracow Balice airport and Katowice airport are the top two beneficiaries, which will get 50 million euros (US$65 million) and 43.8 million euros (US$57 million), respectively, according to the Polish Press Agency.

Other airports in Poland will receive no more than 40 million euros (US$52 million) each.

The funds will be used for the expansion of terminals and other airport infrastructure.

In 2006, Polish airports handled a total of 15.5 million passengers, up 34 percent from the previous year.
