South African police arrested a passenger on a Kulula flight at Cape Town airport on Tuesday night for claiming he had a bomb in his hand luggage.

 

Comair spokeswoman Glenda Zvenyika said: "When checking in, he was asked what he had in his hand luggage, and he said some clothing and a bomb."

 

Airports Company South Africa staff informed the captain of the flight as he was reversing the Boeing 737-400 out of the parking bay.

 

He returned to base and the man was handed over to the police, according to a report by South African Press Association.

 

The Cape Town to Johannesburg flight, MN 106, was delayed for one hour.

 

There were 103 passengers and six crew on board. Nobody was injured in the incident.
