Beijing Announces Train Ticket-buying Limit
Adjust font size:

No one is permitted to buy any more than five hard berth tickets or ten hard seat tickets, states Beijing Railway Bureau's official announcement regarding railway stations.

Figures released by the director of Beijing Railway Bureau's Ticket Centre, Zhang Jucai, show that nearly half million people left or arrived in Beijing railway stations on Feb.6, the beginning of a traffic peak.

Beijing Railway Bureau has therefore decided to limit the number of tickets one can buy at a time, to make sure that passengers can get enough tickets.

The restriction, being effective from Feb. 7 to Feb. 17, is aimed at reducing sales to scalpers and ticket-booking agencies, Zhang said. Passengers buying large numbers of tickets will be reminded of the restriction and requested to show their ID.
