Ski Saturday

Take to the slopes at Miyun Nanshan Ski Village next Saturday.

Tickets: 290 yuan (US$35) for whole day inclusive of transportation, entrance ticket, insurance and skiing fee (cable car, ski/snowboard rent, boots rent).

Bridging History

Marco Polo Bridge, a bridge famous for its numerous lion sculptures, is a work of exquisite craftsmanship, the object of admiration of an emperor in the early Qing Dynasty (AD 1644 to 1911). It became famous in its own right as the site of the first shot fired in the 20th century Sino-Japanese War.

Come join us in a stroll along this artistic creation, with imperial literary relics, and the bullet holes from the bloody war still embedded in the walls of the nearby town, Wanping.

The International Newcomers' Network meets on the last Monday of each month to discuss topics concerning new arrivals in Beijing.

For this month, the meeting falls on February 23 when Lorraine Clissold, a former CCTV 9 cooking class presenter, will discuss "what's for dinner in Beijing."  She will talk about foodstuffs available in Beijing and how to use them.
