Location: Brazil

Date: Nov. 10 2011

An oil spill happened in the Frade field operated by Chevron in the Campos Basin, Brazil's most productive area of offshore production on Nov. 10 2011.

More than 2,600 barrels of oil may have spilled into the Atlantic ocean because of a leak at an offshore Chevron drilling site, which lies 370 kilometers (230 miles) northeast of Rio de Janeiro.
