The dry riverbed is seen as serious drought hit Ganjiang River in Nanchang of east China's Jiangxi Province, Jan. 12, 2012. A lingering drought has caused a severe water shortage in Jiangxi Province. The drought has sharply reduced water levels in Poyang Lake, the country's largest freshwater lake, and rivers in Jiangxi, threatening water supplies to more than one million people residing near the lake and rivers, said an official with the province's flood control and drought relief headquarters.
