An earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale jolted New Britain region, Papua New Guinea at 22:51:54 GMT Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 19.50 km, was initially determined to be at 6.9860 degrees south latitude and 148.3110 degrees east longitude.
