River pollution creates 'cancer village'

The color of the polluted Honghe River (a branch of the Huai River) looked just like dark soy sauce, and always smelled terrible, said a villager in Xiping County, located in central China's Henna Province. Residents living along the river cannot even open the window. The accumulation of white foam on the surface of the river has been dozens of centimeters tall, looking like snowfalls when winds blow them into the air. Crops die after being irrigated from the river's water. [Photo/Sina]
