Visitors tour Gucun Park yesterday. With its cherry blossom in full bloom, the park, the city's largest cherry blossom sightseeing area, witnessed record single-day visitor numbers of around 149,000, the highest since it opened three years ago. Shanghai's roads, expressways and Metro lines were also crowded over the weekend, partly because of the fine weather prompting people to get out into the springtime sunshine, and partly because of the Qingming Festival, or tomb-sweeping day, which is on Thursday. It's traditional to pay homage to deceased relatives on or before the festival. [Photo/Shanghai Daily] |
