M7.4 quake hits south of the Fiji Islands

An earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale jolted south of the Fiji Islands at 1719 GMT on Thursday(0119 Beijing Time on Friday), the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 207.70 km, was initially determined to be at 23.1300 degrees south latitude and 176.5830 degrees west longitude.
