Magnitude-5.1 quake hits southern Iran

An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale jolted southern Iran at 2244 GMT on Thursday ( 0644 Beijing Time on Friday), the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 9.80 km, was initially determined to be at 27.2095 degrees north latitude and 53.6110 degrees east longitude.
