Artificial rain brings relief from scorching heat

Residents enjoy the cool air near the Qiantangjiang River in the city of Hangzhou on July 30, 2013. Artificial rain fell in six areas in the eastern Chinese province of Zhejiang, including Hangzhou, Ningbo, Shaoxing, Jinhua, Taizhou and Huzhou, bringing relief from the scorching heat. The eastern coastal city of Hangzhou has become China's hottest city. Since last Tuesday, the air temperature has exceeded 40 degrees Celsius on 6 out of 7 days, that's the hottest period recorded in Hangzhou since records began 62 years ago. [Photo/Xinhua]
