The water level on a section of the Heilongjiang River in the city of Tongjiang kept rising on August 28, 2013, leaving the road leading to Russia's Jewish Autonomous Region inundated. The floods, which have so far claimed 85 lives and left 105 missing, are the worst floods to hit the region in more than a decade, and have prompted the closure of six river ports in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.
