Yi Jiefang: Making the deserts bloom

Yi plants trees together with volunteers in the Ulan Buh desert in May of 2010. Sacsaoul trees, growing on sand dunes, can resist cold, heat and drought. Determined to recreate the miracle in other deserts, Yi started up her second project in Dengkou County of western Inner Mongolia, aiming to create 667 hectares of sacsaoul trees across the Ulan Buh desert.
