A sperm whale is stranded on the beach of Texel Island, the Netherlands, on Jan. 13. Five whales that were between eight to 12 meters long were spotted stranded on the Texel beach on Tuesday afternoon. Scientists confirmed on Wednesday that all five sperm whales were dead. The sperm whale, or cachalot, is the largest of the toothed whales and the largest toothed predator. The mature males can reach up to 16 meters (52 ft) but some can even reach 20.5 meters (67 ft). The marine mammal can live for more than 60 years. [Photo/Xinhua]
