Malaysian Duo Win Women's Doubles Bowling

Yap Mun Yee Sarah and Chai De Choo Wendy of Malaysia claimed the gold medal of the women's bowling doubles event at the 14th Asian Games on Friday.

The Malaysians collected a total of 2,589 points for the title, the first gold medal at the Asian Games for Malaysia.

Runners up Cha Mi-jung and Kim So-kyung of Korea posted 2,558 points in the six game match involving 10 frames each.

Coming behind the leading teams was Wang Yi Fen and Wang Yu Ling from Chinese Taipei, who managed to bowl a net 2,508 points for the bronze medal.

Meanwhile, in the women's singles event held Thursday, South Korea's Kim Soo-kyung won the gold with an average of 227.0 versus222.33 chalked up by Miyuki Kubotani of Japan. The bronze medal went to Liza Clutario of the Philippines.

There are 10 gold medals at stake in the bowling competition that runs till October 9.
