New CPPCC Chairman, Vice Chairpersons Holds First Meeting

The newly-elected chairman and vice chairpersons of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) met in Beijing Friday afternoon for their first meeting, at which they decided to convene the first meeting of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee on March 14-15.

The meeting adopted the main agenda for the meeting of the Standing Committee of the 10th CPPCC National Committee, which, among other tasks, include deliberating and adopting the decisions to form special subcommittees under the CPPCC National Committee and its Standing Committee, and appointing the list of chairmen and vice chairmen for various subcommittees and the list of deputy secretaries-general of the CPPCC National Committee, studying and implementing of the guidelines of the First Session of the 10th CPPCC National Committee, and working out ideas on the work of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee.

The meeting Friday afternoon was presided over by Jia Qinglin, newly-elected chairman of the CPPCC National Committee.

All new vice chairpersons of the CPPCC National Committee, except Ngapoi Ngawang Jigme, attended the meeting.
