Marksmen of Kazakhstan won the first gold medal for their country at the 15th Asian Games on Sunday.

Veteran Sergey Belyayev led Juriy Melsitov and Vitaliy Dovgun to the gold of men's 50m rifle prone with a total score of 1,762 points.

South Korea took the silver medal with 1,758 points, beating China to the third place on 1,752 points.

"They didn't compete to their standards today," said Chang Jingchun, China's coach of men's rifle.

This is the first time that non-Chinese shooters won at the Lusail Shooting Complex after the shooting competition kicked off on Dec. 2.
