China to Start Using Fengyun-3 Meteorological Satellite
Adjust font size:

China is to start using a new-generation meteorological satellite Fengyun-3 in 2007 to detect global weather changes.

Chief engineer with the National Satellite Meteorological Center, Xu Jianmin says the satellite is more advanced than the current meteorological satellites of fengyun-1 and fengyun-2, which are the major channels for China to get weather information.

Xu Jianmin says, since it can sense temperature changes above the ocean surface, the satellite can get weather information from across the global.

The satellite is now being manufactured.
