Volunteers Vaccinated Bird Flu Bacteria in Good Condition
Adjust font size:

Another six volunteers who were vaccinated with bird flu bacteria have still been in good condition over the past five days, according to a doctor in charge of the clinic test.

The six volunteers didn't show poisoning, fever or flu-like symptoms, said Lin Jiangtao, dean aspiratory physician of Sino-Japanese Friendship Hospital.

So far, 36 volunteers have successfully undergone the clinic test, aimed at testing the security of the bacteria, said the doctor.

A total of 120 volunteers were divided into four groups, each with 30 members to accept different doses of bacteria. Multiple doses will be increased in each group.

In each group, same dose of bacteria will be administered to six members first and then to the rest unless there is no poisoning symptom among them, Lin said. Each volunteer will be vaccinated twice so as to gain effective immunity to the bacteria eventually.

The first volunteer was vaccinated on December 21, 2005. According to the doctor, another 24 volunteers in the first group will be vaccinated late this week.
