Anhui Sees Growth in Farm Produce Exports

East China's Anhui Province exported US$333 million worth of farm produce in 2005, up 27 percent on the previous year.

 

According to customs statistics, 58.6 percent of the province's farm produce exports were shipped to Japan, the European Union (EU) and the United States.

 

Other markets included the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

 

Anhui registered a surge in farm produce exports to the EU, which increased 62 percent in 2005, or 25 million dollars. The share of EU markets rose from 15 percent in 2004 to 19.6 percent last year.

 

The eastern inland province topped the nation in the export of sesame, tea, feather and honey.

 

The export of major items of farm produce including vegetable, sesame, tea, feather and honey posted an average increase of 30 percent last year, statistics show.
