At least 10,000 bikini-clad beachgoers are expected to help make history in the coastal city of Huludao during the First China (Xingcheng, Huludao) International Swimsuit Cultural Festival in mid-August.

The event aims to promote image of  Huludao both as a tourist city and a swimsuit production base.

On August 17 during the festival, 10,000 people are expected to wear bikinis on Longwan beach to create a new Guinness world record. The city hopes to attract bikini wearers and fans and promote the local swimsuit brands.

Other programs at the festival include beach volleyball, a traditional Chinese musical instrument performance and a Taiji (Tai Chi) performance.
