Senior Chinese official He Guoqiang has called for more support and aid from other parts of China to help the quake-hit Sichuan Province.

He, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remark during an inspection tour in the quake-affected Chongqing Municipality commissioned by Chinese President and Party chief Hu Jintao.

Accompanied by the municipality's Party chief Bo Xilai and Mayor Wang Hongju on Wednesday, He visited local transport departments to encourage the workers to maintain the roads to Sichuan unblocked.

He urged local officials to continue support to the seriously ravaged areas in the neighbouring Sichuan province and mobilize more materials that quake-hit areas need.

The official asked the municipality, which was separated from Sichuan and became an administrative area directly under the central government in 1997, to receive as many injured victims from Sichuan as it could and try best to help the province repair damaged infrastructure.

He, also secretary of the CPC's Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, called on local discipline officials to intensify supervision over the implementation of central government's deployments on disaster relief and dig out any corruption of quake relief fund and materials.

Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu inspected a transfer station in Sichuan's provincial capital Chengdu, in which all sorts of materials coming from other parts of the country were stored before distribution to quake-hit areas.

The vice premier urged officials of the station to take good care of the materials, distribute and transport them in a scientific way to meet the needs of disaster-affected people.

Hui also asked local transport departments to keep uninterrupted shipments for the materials by water, air and road.

State Councilor Liu Yandong came to an emergency headquarters for national earthquake monitoring of Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing on Wednesday.

She asked earthquake scientists and experts to carry out team works and make continuous efforts to provide more information on quakes which would be important references for central government's decision-making.

The official urged experts to produce satellite images as quick as possible and make detailed analysis between images after and before the quake, as well as make accurate forecasts for possible landslide or dam disasters after the quake.
