China's nuclear chief under investigation

Kang Rixin, general manager of the China National Nuclear Corporation, is under investigation for alleged grave violations of discipline, Xinhuanet, or Xinhua's web service, reported on Wednesday.

Kang, a member of the CPC Central Committee since October 2007, was also the secretary of the corporation's CPC Leadership Group.

He has held the post of the corporation's general manager and Party secretary since September 2003.

The Publicity Department of CPC Central Committee did not provide details about the allegations.

The CNNC, a large state-owned enterprise, is comprised of more than 100 subsidiary companies and institutes.

As the main investor and the biggest owner of nuclear power plants across the country, it performs research and development as well as construction in fields such as nuclear electricity production, nuclear fuels and nuclear technology application, according to the corporation's Web site.
