The Malaysian Health Ministry on Wednesday reported that 87 new patients have been warded for influenza-like illness (ILI), while no death case was reported on the day.
The ministry said that currently a total of 1,238 patients were being treated for ILI in Malaysia's hospitals, including 264 confirmed patients of A/H1N1 flu.
Among the confirmed cases of the disease, the ministry said that 39 patients were being treated in intensive care unit (ICU).
The ministry said that the ICU patients included a pregnant woman, a post-natal patient, children and infants, and also patients with chronic illness, obesity, heart disease and asthma.
The Malaysian Health Ministry's Director General Ismail Merican urged parents to take care their children with risk factors such as children with asthma, in order to prevent the epidemic of A/H1N1 flu.
