Vietnam confirmed 228 more cases of A/H1N1 influenza over the past two days, raising the total number of flu patients in the country to 3,021, said a report of the website of Vietnam's Ministry of Health on Thursday.

Among the newly-reported cases, 186 were in the south, 22 in the north and 20 in the central highland provinces of Vietnam, said the report.

Vietnamese deputy minister of health Trinh Quan Huan said that Vietnam would see an increasing number of flu cases in coming months when winter comes. The A/H1N1 virus may find favorable environment to develop into new strain in cold weather, according to the World Health Organization.

Out of the country's total cases, 1,410 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals. The rest are being quarantined and treated.

Vietnam has reported two deaths of the A/H1N1 flu since its outbreak.
