As one of the first national eco-industrial demonstration parks in central and western China, the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone has kept introducing reforms in and new approaches to ecological conservation and green development.
In 2023, the zone established four national pilot projects for green development, and its energy consumption per 10,000 yuan of GDP was kept at one-fourth of the national average. Through the projects, the zone began exploring a development path that combines environmental protection with economic growth.
In recent years, the zone has carried out various measures to build an ecological system suitable for both living and work. Now, it counts a total of 56 parks, receiving more than 100,000 visitors each year.
As one of the national trials of coordinated innovation in pollution and carbon reduction, the zone also set up China’s first carbon credit system for industrial enterprises.
The zone helped local enterprises to complete green transformation through technological instruction and institutional innovation, and supported research on development strategies and paths for reaching peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality. It also initiated the first national green development plan for industrial parks to create a replicable eco-friendly development modal.
From ecological and environmental governance to industrial green transformation, from technological innovation to institutional improvement, the zone has intensified its efforts to improve the environment while pursuing economic growth, contributing its wisdom and strength for building a beautiful China.
