The biomedicine industry in Hefei has maintained a stable growth, thanks to the city's constant efforts in the sector.

From January to May, the added value of the industry increased 4.3% year on year, and the city attracted a total of 73 new biomedicine projects. 

As one of the first national-level high-tech development zones in China, the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone has in recent years attached great importance to strategic emerging industries, including the biomedical and biopharmaceutical industry. 

At present, the zone is home to more than 400 biomedicine enterprises, among which eight are listed ones. An industrial development pattern has taken early shape with biomedicine and high-end medical devices at the core, in addition to cutting-edge diagnosis and treatment technologies and medical services.

Given biomedicine industry's high investment and long development cycles, the zone has established a full life-cycle support system for local companies. Currently, the zone has a 6.2-billion-yuan fund of funds supporting the life and health industry, and a 600-million-yuan special direct investment fund for biomedicine, providing solid support for the enterprises' long-term research and development.
