A piezoelectric high voltage chip joint laboratory was recently established in the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone.
Jointly sponsored by the Hefei Institute of Technology Innovation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and VOETEC Co., Ltd, the laboratory will carry out scientific research and seek key technological breakthroughs to meet industrial and technological demands in relevant sectors.
In recent years, Hefei high-tech zone has pooled strengths from various fields to advance its "5+2" modern industrial system, and fostered emerging industrial clusters in advanced photovoltaic energy storage, next-generation information technology, new energy vehicles, smart home appliances, and biomedicine. Two future-oriented industries — quantum technology and aerospace information — have begun to take shape in the zone.
According to an overall plan, by 2027, the zone is set to cultivate three industrial clusters each worth 100 billion yuan.
At present, the zone has established a tiered enterprise cultivation system, guiding companies through progressive stages — from technology-driven small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and high-tech enterprises to national-level "little giants" (SMEs that use specialized and sophisticated technologies to produce novel and unique products), potential unicorns, and ultimately industrial leaders.
The zone is now home to 3,400 national high-tech enterprises, 97 national-level "little giants," and 35 listed companies.
