Quantum computer operating system Origin Pilot, developed by leading quantum technology enterprise Origin Quantum in the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone, was made available for global online download on Feb. 24, and deployed on the company's series quantum computers Origin Wukong.
Quantum computers leverage the superposition states of quantum bits (qubits) to enable parallel computing, delivering computational capabilities that vastly outperform classical computers. As a core software bridging users and quantum hardware, Origin Pilot significantly reduces barriers to quantum technology adoption, accelerating the transition of quantum computing from theoretical lab research to real-world practical applications.
Through continuous iteration and optimization, Origin Pilot now supports all mainstream quantum computing architectures, including superconducting, semiconductor, ion trap, photonic quantum, and neutral atom architectures. Its core functionalities span high-precision hardware control, quantum error correction, adaptive noise management, and quantum circuit compilation.
By deeply integrating quantum processing units with traditional supercomputing and intelligent computing systems, Origin Pilot enables the construction of an efficient, collaborative hybrid computing architecture, which provides more potent computational support for complex scenarios like drug research and meteorological forecasting.
At present, quantum computing is demonstrating expansive application prospects. The technology is expected to make remarkable breakthroughs and improve efficiencies in many fields such as precise weather forecasting, the low-altitude economy sector, and medicinal research and innovation.
The Hefei high-tech zone has in recent years continuously driven technological breakthroughs across the entire quantum industrial chain from computer chips to operating systems and computing power services.
Looking ahead, the zone aims to foster a holistic strategic framework for quantum technologies, and work toward establishing a globally influential quantum technology and industry cluster that leads innovation, drives collaboration, and sets international benchmarks.
