Hefei high-tech zone releases new generation superconducting quantum computer
Updated: 2026-05-12
|The fourth-generation independent superconducting quantum computer Origin Wukong 180, developed solely by Origin Quantum, was launched globally on May 9 and began accepting quantum computing tasks from users around the world.
Origin Wukong 180 is equipped with a single 180-qubit superconducting quantum chip, achieving hundred-qubit-scale quantum computing on a single-chip architecture. It features 180 computational qubits that can be directly used for computation, with an average single-qubit gate fidelity of 99.9% and an average two-qubit gate fidelity of 99%, plus 251 coupler qubits.
Origin Quantum's third-generation independent superconducting quantum computer Origin Wukong went online globally on Jan. 6, 2024. It is run by 72 computational qubits on a single chip and has now been operating stably for more than two years, received nearly 50 million remote visits from over 160 countries, completed more than 900,000 global quantum computing tasks, and achieved China's first export sale of independent quantum computing power in 2025.
The new Origin Wukong 180 represents a comprehensive improvement over the third generation in terms of computing power scale, system stability, and practical application level. It will further expand the application of quantum computing in fields such as scientific research and industrial R&D, providing stable and efficient independent quantum computing services to global users.
As the birthplace of Origin Wukong 180, the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone has actively developed the quantum technology industry in recent years. The zone now hosts over 80 quantum technology industry chain enterprises, with the highest industrial concentration in China. It has formed a full-chain innovation ecosystem covering fundamental research, technical breakthroughs, commercialization, and industrial incubation, promoting the application of quantum technologies in areas such as biopharmaceuticals and power supply security.
In the future, the zone will accelerate the construction of the Quantum Industry Pilot Zone and the Overseas Returnee Town, building a globally influential hub for the quantum technology and industry.
