Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone was recently recognized as a provincial-level outstanding model of building service-oriented manufacturing clusters.
After more than three decades of development, the zone has established an industrial landscape underpinned by three 100-billion-yuan industrial clusters: new energy, AI-driven smart manufacturing, and healthcare.
Service-oriented manufacturing blends traditional factory production with on-demand digital services. This new type of industrial transformation that integrates products and service is underway in the Hefei high-tech zone.
Based in the high-tech zone, Sungrow Power Supply has evolved from a photovoltaic inverter manufacturer into an integrated service provider, offering not only photovoltaic inverters but also energy storage systems as well as power station operation and maintenance.
Led by the company, more than 70 advanced photovoltaic and energy storage enterprises have jointly pushed the new energy industrial scale in the zone to nearly 130 billion yuan ($19.27 billion).
iFLYTEK has upgraded from a voice technology provider to an AI service provider with its large models being used in over 300 industry scenarios. By now, the zone has gathered more than 1,500 AI enterprises, forming a complete industrial chain covering both infrastructure and application.
The zone nurtured a total of 72 provincial-level and above service-oriented manufacturing demonstration enterprises, covering various sectors including new energy, home appliances, automobiles, and electronic information.
It also cultivated 48 incubators at or above the municipal level, among which 18 are at the national level. In 2025, the zone signed 241 key projects with a total investment of 77 billion yuan.
At present, the zone is home to more than 400 provincial-level and above research and development platforms and institutions, and is continuously exploring a new industrial development path that combines technology, service, and data.
