In the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone, future-oriented industries are measured by the volume of data and number of enterprises. Yunfei Road, known as "Quantum Avenue," hosts over 30 quantum industry leaders, including QuantumCTek, Origin Quantum, and CIQTEK, spanning the fields of communications, computing, and measurement.
The zone now has more than 80 quantum firms, accounting for one-third of China's total, with 2025 revenue approaching 5 billion yuan ($744 million). Early this year, several firms expanded their operations, and eight new enterprises are expected to launch in the zone.
Quantum computing relies on close supply-chain coordination. Local suppliers of lasers, vacuum, cryogenics, and electronics are all within 10 kilometers of one another. In the "Quantum Building" at Zhong'an Chuanggu Technology Park, measurement operations are conducted on the upper floors while computing takes place below, enabling seamless collaboration across the industrial chain .
When Geovis Technology moved its global headquarters from Beijing in 2021, the aerospace sector was still largely undeveloped. Four years later, the zone hosts over 140 firms engaged in satellite development, operations, and data. Geovis Technology has spun off subsidiaries, with one of them becoming listed in 2025. The Deep Space Exploration Lab, also based here, has supported lunar missions including Chang'e-6, and led the development of the Tiandu satellite, marking the first time an overall spacecraft design for a lunar mission was carried out in Anhui.
The development of two firms speaks volumes: HiDream.ai reached unicorn status in two years; Advanced Manufacturing EDA took six years to go public.
Overall, the zone now has more than 1,500 AI firms that together exceed 200 billion yuan in scale, 400 biopharma firms, and 150 aerospace firms with a scale of over 10 billion yuan. Its number of unicorns ranks among the top national zones, with over 400 provincial-level R&D platforms. The zone's goal is clear: to establish an ecosystem where every business can blaze its own trail to success.
