GalaxySpace stands as a model enterprise in China's commercial aerospace industry, having evolved from focusing on scientific exploration to large‑scale application.
From launching its first satellite and building a complete manufacturing chain, to setting up a payload center at the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone, the company's trajectory reflects how China's commercial space sector is shifting from technological breakthroughs toward industrial coordination.
At GalaxySpace's smart satellite factory, humans and robots collaborate on the production lines, with all work facilitated by assembly robots, intelligent equipment, and digital manufacturing systems. This setup has cut the satellite development cycle by more than 80% compared with traditional approaches.
In 2023, the company launched the Lingxi-03 satellite, China's first flat-panel, stackable satellite manufactured utilizing integrated molding technology. Its main frame can be die-cast in a single piece, shortening manufacturing time, while the stackable design improves the efficiency of rocket launch and lowers the cost of satellite launch.
The development of the satellite exemplifies deep‑rooted industrial collaboration. It brought together industrial chain partners across precision machining, casting, electronics integration, energy, electromechanical engineering, advanced materials, and other sectors.
On Aug. 25, GalaxySpace successfully launched the Lingzhi-09 Thailand CubeSat. It marked the first time a Chinese commercial aerospace satellite company had completed a satellite project — encompassing development, launch, and in-orbit delivery — for a Southeast Asian country.
As of August, the firm had put 49 self‑developed satellites into orbit, and built China's first low‑orbit broadband communication test constellation.
GalaxySpace has now forged partnerships with Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and other nations, with several cooperation projects already having been launched.
