Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone recently secured a new major investment in its new energy vehicle sector, as a world's leading automotive supplier signed an agreement to establish a R&D and production base in the zone.
Fortune Global 500 company Magna International is set to build a 100-mu (6.67 hectares) modern smart factory for automotive seat frames, integrating R&D and intelligent manufacturing. This marks the company's second investment in the zone since it first established a presence there in 2014.
In recent years, Hefei high-tech zone has continued to develop its new energy vehicle industrial ecosystem. The zone now hosts nearly 200 enterprises across the industrial chain, with a total industrial output approaching 80 billion yuan (US$11.97 billion).
It has formed a complete industrial chain that covers core technology R&D, key component manufacturing, and vehicle support services.
Moving forward, the zone will continue to prioritize intelligent, green, and high-end development in the automotive sector. Authorities will attract more key upstream and downstream enterprises and critical industrial projects, and strengthen full-process services for projects, promoting deeper industrial clustering and expansion.
