Jia meets Romanian president

Basescu said Romania treasures friendly relations with China and is ready to maintain high-level political contact and dialogues with China.

He expressed the willingness to take the opportunity of the 60th anniversary of the forge of diplomatic ties between the two countries to make new progress in the growth of bilateral links.

Jia also briefed Basescu about Beijing's preparation for the Olympic Games. He also explained Chinese government's stance on the Taiwan issue and issues concerning Tibet.

Basescu said Romania actively support Beijing to stage the Olympic Games. He expressed the wish to visit Beijing to attend the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games and the Asia- Europe summit.

Basescu reaffirmed that Romania will firmly adhere to the one- China policy and believes that issues concerning Tibet are internal affairs of China.

Jia briefed the host about the achievements of China's reform and opening up drive and its idea on sticking to the route of peaceful development.

Jia stressed that China will always stick to the route of peaceful development, unswervingly pursue the mutually beneficial and win-win policy of opening up and push for the development of a harmonious world of lasting peace and common prosperity.
