Taxation, customs-most popular jobs
Figures show that among the 1.4 million people who signed up for the state government enrollment examination this year, 430,000 desire a job in taxation administration while another 220,000 want to work in customs, the China Youth Daily reports. And in a survey of 2,312, 95 percent think customs and taxation agencies are the most desirable working places. Good salary (86.3 percent), power (72.5 percent) and high social status (64.8 percetn) are attributed reasons for the popularity of the two posts, the survey found.
Government jobs provide stability and good wages. By contrast, private companies or self-employment may be more rewards financially, but the embedded risk makes them less desired.
