Cambodian snakes tie the knot
Hundreds of villagers in Cambodia Monday flocked to a wedding ceremony between a 16-foot, 200-pound (90-kilogram) female python and her slightly smaller mate, The Telegraph reports. Fortune tellers believe the pythons are magic snakes that will bring prosperity and peace to the village. Residents decided to marry the two pythons after a boy who was believed to have been possessed by demons. Most Cambodians are Buddhists but also subscribe to animism -- a belief that spirits inhabit all creatures and inanimate objects.
Glasses improve job prospects
People who wear glasses to a job interview are more likely to get the job, a study has found, the Daily Telegraph reports. One third of British adults believe glasses make someone look more professional and 43% think glasses make people appear more intelligent. A staggering 40% already wear or would consider wearing clear lenses just to improve their chances of getting a job. Experts attribute the "power" of glasses to an old stereotype that says people develop bad eyesight by reading a lot.

A suicide jumper in New York isn't dead thanks to a giant heap of garbage. Vangelis Kapatos, 26, leapt from a ninth-floor window Monday and was hospitalized in critical but stable condition, Reuters reports. The giant heap of garbage accumulated due to the city's massive snowstorm a week ago. Sanitation workers have not collected trash since the Dec. 26 storm left more than a foot and a half of snow, and mounds of garbage several feet high line many sidewalks.
