A new poll released Monday indicated that for most Americans providing their children a better life or having a successful business or career is their version of the American Dream, Reuters reports.

Their children's welfare was the top priority for 53% of Americans asked about the American Dream in a 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair survey. It surpassed job prospects, getting rich overnight, owning a home, doing better than your parents, and becoming famous, which despite reality television was chosen by only 3%.

The telephone poll of nearly 11,000 people also showed that 70% of Americans do not believe they would feel safer if concealed weapons were allowed in classrooms.

孩子生活更好构成“美国梦”

       在电视节目《60分钟》和《名利场》杂志联合做的这项关于“美国梦”的调查中，孩子的幸福是53%美国人的头等大事。这超过了工作前景、一夜暴富、置办家产、比父母过得更好、出名等项。虽然有电视真人秀的影响，只有3%的人选择了出名。

       该电话调查采访了近1.1万人，它还显示，70%的美国人认为即使为了预防枪击允许将武器藏着带入课堂，也不会增强他们的安全感。
