Officials on Wednesday warned that an extended low-flow period caused by the lingering spring drought in central China might pose a threat to navigation in parts of the Yangtze River, the country's longest waterway, Xinhua reports.	新华社消息，中国官员周三警告说，中部大部分地区持续的春旱导致长江水位长时间过低，可能对长江部分地区的航运造成威胁。长江是中国最长的水运航道。
The persistent drought has reduced water levels in the middle of the river to a "worrying level," driving up the danger of ships grounding.	持续的干旱已经使长江中段水位降至警戒线，增加了船舶搁浅的危险。
To guarantee the safety of ships plying the river, dredging work was expected to ramp up, and more rescue vehicles may be put into operation this year.	为保证船舶运行的安全，疏浚工作将进一步加强，今年更多的救援船只将投入使用。
