China's tax burden is higher than many middle- and high-income countries, according to a risk report on taxes by the Central University of Finance and Economics, Economic Information Daily reports. 《经济参考报》消息,中央财经大学发布的中国税收风险研究报告指出,我国目前税负水平高于中上等收入国家。
For a country with a per capita GDP of more than US$2,000, the best tax rate is 23%, according to the report. China's per capita GDP was US$3,700 in 2009, but its tax rate was 32.2%. 报告指出,人均GDP在2000美元以上的中等收入国家,最佳宏观税负为23%。中国2009年人均GDP3700美元,但宏观税负水平已高达32.2%。

The report also points out that the tax burden is too high for the amount of services provided by the government.
