Independent admissions unfair to rural students

Experts say universities' independent admissions policies usually focus on overall qualifications including music or painting. This is unfair to rural students.

The ratio of rural students in top universities has fallen since 1990, with only 10 percent of Peking University students coming from the countryside, the Southern Weekly reports.

据《南方周末》报道，重点大学农村学生比例自1990年起开始滑落，北京大学农村学生所占比例仅为10%。
