A worker made unusual travel arrangements during China's Spring Festival travel peak season.

A Beijing white-collar worker solved the problem of how to get home to Kunming, Yunnan Province for the holidays by booking tickets which involve making a stopover in Bangkok, Laodong News reported.

The worker made the unusual travel arrangements after finding train tickets hard to come by and direct flights prohibitively expensive during China's Spring Festival travel peak season.

The foreign detour, despite being time consuming, may actually save money, as tickets for both legs of the journeys are abundant.
