Shyness, bereavement and eccentric behavior could be classed as a mental illness under new guidelines, leaving millions of people at risk of being diagnosed as having a psychiatric disorder, Daily Telegraph reported.

Under changes planned to the diagnosis handbook used by doctors in the U.S., common behavioral traits are likely to be listed as a mental illness, it was reported.

The fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) of Mental Disorders could also include internet addiction and gambling as medical problems.

害羞或被列为精神疾病

       新的《精神疾病诊断与统计手册》可能会将害羞﹑丧亲之哀﹑以及一些古怪的行为纳入精神疾病的范畴，数百万人可能因此被诊断为患有精神方面的疾病。

       据英国《每日电讯报》报道，美国医生使用的诊断手册将会有些改变，一些常见的行为特征很可能也将被视作精神疾病。

       有人就此请愿要求阻止该版本的发行，活动目前已得到11000名心理学家的签名支持。
