Two Chinese graduate students from the University of Southern California were shot around 1:00 am yesterday while sitting in a double-parked BMW in an area southwest of downtown Los Angeles, said the LA Police Department, AFP reported.

The electrical engineering students, in their early 20s, suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The woman was found slumped in the passenger seat, while the man was on the steps of a nearby house.

USC officials later identified the female victim as Ying Wu, and the man as Ming Qu. The motive for the shootings was unclear, but it may have been a bungled carjacking, he said. One attacker was seen leaving the scene.

法新社报道，洛杉矶警方称，昨日凌晨1点左右，两名来自美国洛杉矶南加州大学的中国留学生在洛杉矶南郊的闹市区被枪杀，当时他们在一辆违章停放的宝马车内。

两名死者20出头，是电机工程系的学生，他们身上有多处弹孔。女子坐在乘客座椅上中弹身亡，男子则在附近一家民宅的台阶上死亡。

南加州大学校方稍后出来确认称，女死者名叫吴颖，男生叫瞿明。目前，警方尚未查出枪击案的动机，不过这可能是一桩很拙劣的车辆抢劫案。据悉，一名枪手已经逃脱。
