International Translation Workshop held in Beijing

Senior translators who took part in translating the book Xi Jinping: The Governance of China and the project of China Keywords also joined the discussions.Focused on Chinese to English translation in literature and political terms, the workshop gathered experts from China and foreign countries including Zhou Mingwei, President of the China International Publishing Group (CIPG) and China Academy of Translation, Wang Gangyi, Vice President of CIPG and Executive President of the China Academy of Translation, Huang Youyi, former Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of CIPG and Vice President of the China Academy of Translation, Bao Chuanyun, professor and former dean of the Graduate School of Translation, Interpretation, and Language Education at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey and Vice President of the China Academy of Translation, Cai Lijian, Senior reviser at the United Nations Secretariat in New York, Karen Kingsbury, Professor of International Studies at Chatham University and translator of the fictions of eminent Chinese writer Eileen Chang, June Mei, independent consultant and high-level interpreter and translator of both volumes of Zhu Rongji on the Record, Yang Shuhui, Professor of Chinese Literature at Bates College, Yang Yunqin, simultaneous interpreter at the United Nations Secretariat in New York, Lynette Shi, Associate Professor of the Graduate School of Translation, Interpretation, and Language Education at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey and Liljana Arsovska, researcher and associated professor at the Center for Asian and African Studies at El Colegio de Mexico.

The workshop, co-hosted by the China International Publishing Group (CIPG) and the China Academy of Translation is the first of its kind in China and has provided an exchange platform for Chinese and foreign translators and explored more channels for introducing excellent Chinese literature works to the world.
