Gilded Copper Perfume Bottle Holder
The Gilded Copper Perfume Bottle Holder was imported to China during the late Qing Dynasty. It has three small blue glass openings, each with a curved gilded copper hook as a switch, with a blue glass perfume bottle placed inside.
The glass openings and perfume bottle are partially adorned with colorful appliqués and painted flowers. The perfume bottle holder is equipped with a gilded copper ring, making it easy to carry or hang. Its bottom has three gilded copper legs.
The design is in Western style, with the delicate, elegant blue glass in distinct contrast with the gold plating, displaying a graceful and luxurious royal appeal.
Due to its longstanding history and excellent quality, imported perfume was popular among noblewomen in the Qing Dynasty. Imported perfumes were called "foreign goods", to be distinguished from Chinese-made face powder and grease. Back then, the royal court acquired such perfume either by tributes from local officials or through foreign trade.
The exquisite decorations and designs make this perfume bottle holder a real work of art, reflecting the fashionable and elegant style of Western glassmaking and product packaging.
