Adjust font size:

The Olympic torch will arrive in Nanning, capital of southwestern China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Saturday, a local government official said Thursday.

Nanning is the second leg of the Guangxi relay which started on Friday in Guilin, a world famous tourist city, and will end in Bose.

Boasting 6.7 million people and 22,000 square kilometers, Nanning is hailed as "the Green City of China" and has been voted as one of the most livable cities in China.

The UN-HABITAT has praised the cultural and social environment of Nanning, giving the city "the Habitat Scroll of Honor Award" in 2007.

Nanning plays an important role in Guangxi's social and economic development.

Meanwhile, it enjoys a geographic advantage as it links China to southeast Asian countries.
